The stipulated safety goals as mechanical integrity, sub-criticality, shielding against ionizing radiation and sufficient heat dissipation are the focus of the following activities:

  • Appraisal of technical documents for qualification processes, manufacturing, maintenance and storage of transport and storage casks
  • Surveillance of qualification processes, manufacturing, maintenance and storage of transport and storage casks
  • Support the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI) in licensing of new types of transport and storage casks
  • Collaborating in the further development of national and international nuclear codes and regulations
