Tasks and activities
The Nuclear Inspectorate’s activities focus on key safety-related components and systems in Swiss nuclear power plants, and on containers for transporting and storing spent combustion elements and highly active waste.
The Nuclear Inspectorate performs an expert assessment independently of the power plant operator and thus provides ENSI with additional information for making decisions. We participate in international working groups on nuclear technology, make a vital contribution to global research projects and conduct training and courses, including on behalf of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
