The Federal Pipelines Act regulates the general conditions for the construction and operation of pipelines systems, and defines the scope of application.

Swiss Federal Ordinance on the Safety of Pipeline Systems, SR 746.12

The Federal Pipeline Safety Ordinance defines the minimum safety requirements to be met by pipeline systems and operators.

Guideline of the Federal Pipelines Inspectorate IFP/ERI 2025

The ERI Guideline 2025 implements the above regulations in practice. It is based on the corresponding European EN / ISO standards and, in accordance with the Pipelines Act, is the legal basis for the planning, construction and operation of pipeline systems for natural gas (methane), hydrogen and carbon dioxide in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The guideline is available in German and French and can be purchased for CHF 225 from our secretariat.
