Federal Pipelines Inspectorate
The Federal Pipelines Inspectorate (FPI) is responsible for the planning, construction and operation of pipeline systems for transporting liquid and gas fuels and combustibles in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein, insofar as they are subject to the Swiss Federal Pipelines Act, the criteria for which are the maximum possible pressure and the medium that is being transported.

Federal Pipelines Inspectorate
The Federal Pipelines Inspectorate (FPI) is responsible for the planning, construction and operation of pipeline systems for transporting liquid and gas fuels and combustibles in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein, insofar as they are subject to the Swiss Federal Pipelines Act, the criteria for which are the maximum possible pressure and the medium that is being transported.
The Federal Pipelines Inspectorate (FPI) is the technical supervisory authority for all pipeline systems and is not under the control of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy. As an independent body, the FPI is integrated with the Swiss Association for Technical Inspections (SVTI) and acts in a technical supervisory role within the borders of Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein according to the Swiss Federal Pipelines Act (SR 746.1).

The FPI is an organisational unit of DETEC, the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications. It works in close cooperation with the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) and the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN).
