History of Origins
The SVTI over the course of time
The Swiss Association of Steam Boiler was founded in Zurich on 9 July 1869 by various owners of steam boilers.
The aim was to form a special purpose association for the protection of common interests in the field of steam boiler plants and power generation with steam engines prompted by the economic development and the frequency and severity of accidents in these plants.
The Swiss Association for Technical Inspections (SVTI), which emerged from this association, has grown steadily over the last 150 years and has adapted to the needs of society. The safety of pressure equipment is nowadays only a part of the tasks carried out by the SVTI and its subsidiary Swiss Safety Center AG. However, the focus is always on the safety of the population.
