Vision and mission of the Pressure Vessel Inspectorate
The Mission statement of the Pressure Vessel Inspectorate
The new mission statement of the Pressure Vessel Inspectorate shows how we will implement the new approach towards pressure equipment in Switzerland. Switzerland has adopted the European guidelines and implemented the Pressure Equipment Ordinance (manufacturing and initial market placement) and the Ordinance on the Utilisation of Pressure Equipment (placement into service, operation and repairs). The consequence: operators receive support from a notified body when placing the equipment on the market. The Pressure Vessel Inspectorate provides support to operators both at placement into service and during operation (inspections and repairs) of pressure equipment. This expansion of our mandate is firmly established in the new mission statement of the Pressure Vessel Inspectorate.
Vision of the Pressure Vessel Inspectorate
The Pressure Vessel Inspectorate's primary concern is to prevent accidents, disruptions and damage during the operation of pressure plants. These efforts are focused on commercial operators who are required to guarantee safe workplaces in accordance with Art. 82 para. 1 UGV and Art. 6 para. 1 ArG. The Pressure Vessel Inspectorate also offers support to private operators.
The Pressure Vessel Inspectorate is in the public eye like no other inspectorate within SVTI – after all, as the founding inspectorate of SVTI it is also the oldest and has more than 9,500 members. This number should also continue growing in the future, as well.
By no later than 2015 we intend to be the preferred service provider for operators of pressure plants. We offer inspections and other customised services related to inspections which ensure the safe operation of pressure plants (assemblies).
We have expanded our area of expertise from simple pressure equipment and vessels to the entire pressure plant and can now offer a full range of services to ensure the safe operation of pressure assemblies. By performing inspections and inspection-related services such as safety assessments, risk analyses and hazard analyses during plant construction or conversion, we make an active contribution towards workplace safety, systems safety and investment protection at businesses. This allows operators to concentrate fully on their core competencies such as the production of goods or the supply of energy.
Mission of the Pressure Vessel Inspectorate
We are the nation's conscience when it comes to matters of safety. As an independent specialist organisation for boiler plants and pressure equipment, we offer our customers safety through our expertise, know-how and problem-solving skills.
