The Federal Pipeline Inspectorat inspects projects, construction and exploitation of all pipelines and annexed installations for gas and oil in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Gas pipelines only if the pressure is higher than 5bar.

The FPI is also an office of the ministry of energy where it works strongly together with the Office of Energy.
